TODAY’S MEDITATIONS – Christ is the power and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:18-24)

God’s ways are not man’s ways. We always hear this or say this. Yet, many believers still live their lives as if their ways are better or wiser than the Sovereign Lord’s. But the Word of God shows us many times that our normal human wisdom will never be enough to understand God’s ways. My brother, my sister, you can spend your lifetime accumulating wisdom and yet never learn how to have a personal relationship with God. Why? Because if you do so without Jesus, then your wisdom is doomed to be destroyed (verse 19). Why? Because only the crucified and risen Christ can enable you to enjoy a personal relationship with the Father and offer you eternal life. Just like in the past, the Good News of Jesus Christ still sounds foolish to many today. And our societies worship power, influence and wealth… and most of the time reject Jesus because many people think that only needy people worship Jesus. You see, in the early church, the Jews expected the Messiah to be a conquering wealthy king who would come with signs and wonders; the Greeks did not understand that a reputable person could be crucified because death was a defeat for them, not victory. My friends, Jesus once asked His disciples “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:13-20). He is asking you the same today! Why? Because He came as a humble, poor servant and offered His Kingdom to those who have FAITH, not those who do all kinds of good deeds to try to earn salvation. Yes, it looks foolish to the world, that is why many people still believe that Jesus only came for those in need, for the poor… As Christians with the responsibility to spread the Good News, we have to tell the world that Christ is the power of God, THE ONLY WAY we can be saved and knowing Christ is the greatest wisdom anyone (rich or poor) can have. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
