TODAY’S MEDITATION – Your life will have no meaning if you’re spurning God’s Word (Isaiah 5: 8-25)

In today’s society, when people see no distinction between good and evil, they also find it easy to believe that no one can decide for anyone else what is really right or wrong. That is why many people witness the downfall of people around them and do nothing. Yes, our neighbours can get drunk… and we think it won’t hurt them that much! They can have extramarital affairs… oh, everyone does that and it is not really wrong and it is none of our business after all; money controls them… well, it is normal since every one wants to succeed materially. My brother, my sister, these things are recurrent among Christians and we sometimes see believers making excuses for their wrong actions, without telling them that they may break down the distinction between right and wrong. Let me recall you that Jesus taught us that: “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline” (Revelation 3:19). As Christians, we are the salt and the light of the world, and the sin of one in our midst can destroy the whole assembly: we have seen churches falling apart because of ignored sin! Therefore, we should set standards for those watching us, inside and outside the body of Christ. If we do not take God’s Word as our standard for living, our own moral values will soon become blurred. These verses show us that the people suffered because they rejected God’s law. And it is so sad to see many believers and unbelievers today searching for meaning in life while in fact they are the one spurning God’s Word that says: ” A fool spurns his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence” (Proverbs 15:5). We can avoid the errors of Israel and Judah by making a high priority of reading the Bible regularly, meditating it and above all obeying the commands of God. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
