TODAY’S MEDITATION – Your future is not ahead of you, it is within you (Joshua 24:14)

Your future is far better than what you are doing right now. The Bible says, “Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning” (Job 42:12)” The book that God wrote about your life is already finished and each year of your life is a chapter in that book. God is the “author and finisher” (Hebrews 12:2) and you need to contact Him and find out what is supposed to happen in the chapter you are currently in. It is your divine purpose to accomplish some specific things that God has already planned for your life. Your future is inside of you and you need to possess it today, not tomorrow. My brother, my sister, you can rest knowing that God is committed to your future and this allows you to face the future with fearless confidence. Don’t worry about the provision needed to turn your dream into a reality. God is your source and the provision will be there waiting for you when you need it… as long as you have not drifted away from the page of the book you are supposed to be on. Apostle Paul said “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1:6).
My friend, sometimes, we hear people say: it depends on God. Not really: you see, inside of an apple are little seeds that can be planted to make more apple trees that produce more apples. The truth is that the future of that apple is inside itself in the form of the seeds that are there. And so it is with you. Your future is not ahead of you, it is inside of you and you need to possess it now… why? Because you can have confidence knowing that God’s work in you is already finished and on your journey He will give you wisdom and insight that will help take you to where you need to go.
What many forget is that God first blessed us, then He chose us. Now, to access these blessings, our obedience is capital: “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 28:2). The same is echoed in the New Testament where we are told that the blessings of God will overtake us when we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:25-33). My friends, God told the children of Israel this: “I have given you a land for which you did not labour, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant” (Joshua 24:13). Unfortunately, many people are struggling to build a future, build their homes, buy a new car every year, or even change their mobile phone all the time, and so on… Yet the Word of God says that all these cities and vineyards were prepared for the people before they headed for the promised land. When the people obeyed, the blessings were there and awaited them. And it is the same when we fulfil our divine purpose, by making God’s purpose your purpose. Indeed, Joshua’s response to this great blessing tells us exactly what we should do: “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and truth” (Joshua 24:14). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
