Believers need to understand that it is what they decide to choose that will set the course of their lives. In today’s Bible verse, the Lord says: “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” What does it mean? My brother, my sister, what the Lord is saying here is that the choices you make affect both heaven and earth. Besides, He has offered you to “choose life so that you and your children should live.” Now, how do you choose life? By abiding to His Word, because the Word of God produces life of God. However, the same Word comes with the laws and principles of God. So, if you choose the life that the Lord is offering Him, then you have to live by His own principles just because prayers or fasting will not be beneficial without your application of the principles of God. Yes, if you are asking the Lord for forgiveness, know that His principle is forgive first: “forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32); you are asking for breakthroughs and blessings to manifest in your life, the Lord’s principle is full obedience: “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God…” (Deuteronomy 28:1-9); you are praying for prosperity, the Lord’s principle is sow first “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25); you want to be treated well by others, treat them well yourself “You who preach against stealing, do you steal?” (Romans 2:21); you are looking for His divine healing, abide to His Word: “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave” (Psalm 107:20)… My friend, never forget that as much as His Word is forever the same, so are His principles too: the Lord will never modify or adapt them to suit your individual needs. He is God, He will not change… so make the right choice to follow His principles so that you may live a life that is pleasing to Him, assured that the Lord is certainly not pleased to see anyone depressed, discouraged, tired, sick… He created you and has set a table before you and He has invited you to make the choice that gives His life.
