TODAY’S MEDITATION – You must be a risk-taker in the kingdom of God (Luke 8:34-48)

When we read the story of the woman who touched Jesus for her healing, we sometimes forget two main things. First, she was considered to be unclean, almost an outcast like a leper: “When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening” (Leviticus 15:19). Yes, this woman was not supposed to be where she was because of her condition that was limited by her cultural values and her religious traditions. But, she did not let that stop her. My brother, my sister, we should learn to do like this woman: she heard that Jesus was on His way… she took a risk, knowing that she was breaking the laws imposed by her religious tradition. Do you think that among the crowd there were not people who knew of her condition and who could have accused her of what she did? Yet, she took the risk of faith that caused the limitation to be broken forever in her life, just like David did not limit himself by the size or strength he had heard about the giant Goliath. My friend, whatever is limiting you today, take the risk of faith to break it and the Lord will help you, giving you the courage to overcome and fighting by your side. Many people suffer in silence and accept their limited conditions, waiting for the Lord to act. How can Jesus heal you when you don’t take the risk to approach Him? How can Jesus set you free when He says come to me and cast your burdens unto me, but you continue to carry them over your head? It all starts with you, my friend. You are already equipped, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
