TODAY’S MEDITATION – You are the Temple of Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Today it is worth Going back to the Old Testament to understand the Temple’s main purpose, so we can understand the impact of our body being the Temple of the Holy Spirit. My brother, my sister, God promised His people that His eternal presence would never leave the Temple as long as they obeyed His law (1 Kings 6:13-14). Today we are no longer under the law AND we ourselves have become the Temple of the Holy Spirit. My friend, God is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. So, this means that what cuts us off from the presence of the Lord is not really failing to keep His law, since He has provided forgiveness for all our sins through the sacrifice of Jesus. In other words, lawbreaking is the result, not the cause, of our separation from God, especially when we abandon the Lord in our hearts first and then fail to keep His laws. Yes, my friend, whoever closes their hearts to God soon loses His power and presence and all the purpose of the Holy Spirit who is meant to build us up in the body of Christ for the glory of God as He regenerates us (John 3:3-5), dwells in us (Romans 8:11), anoints us (1 John 2:27), baptises us (Acts 2:17-41), empowers us (Micah 3:8), sanctifies us (Romans 15:16), comforts us (John 14:16-26), gives us joy (Romans 14:17), gives us discernment (1 Corinthians 2:10-16), brings us to bear fruits (Galatians 5:22-23) or gives us gifts (1 Corinthians 12:3-11). That is why, my friends, we should make sure to always remember that as a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit, our body is as precious as a jewel that must not be polluted with worldly living. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
