TODAY’S MEDITATION – You are more than conqueror (Romans 8:31-39)

This passage of the Bible must be one of the most comforting and encouraging one for any believer, as it does not only define our status in the Lord, but it also gives us the security that should be a drive for us in our Christian walk. My brother, my sister, if you sometime wonder if God is really with you, or if you have any questions regarding your salvation. The answers are here in three main points:

The first point is that no opposition can stand before a child of God (8:31-32): we are more than conquerors, once hidden in Christ, so no opposition can undermine you or the plan of God for you, because if God is working on your behalf (and He is), then who could succeed in opposing you? The truth is that no adversary or enemy is of any account when God is for us. Yes, you may feel defeated, but this encouraging truth is that evil will never ultimately prevail. You will always be led to victory in Christ because God is for you.

The second point is that, in Christ, no one can charge you with sin because God has justified you, He has acquitted you and declared you righteous before His perfect justice. Therefore, there is no condemnation for you anymore, for who can ‘unjustify’ who God has justified? No one! (8:33-34).

The third point here is that no one or nothing can separate you from the love of God (8:35-39). My friend, yes, your love for Christ can fluctuate between hot and cold… but you have one assurance: Christ love for you is never-ending. And the Good News for you today is found on verse 37: “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.”

My friend, have total confidence in the Lord, because He offers eternal life, and let me tell you something today: eternal life is eternal and nothing in life or in death, nothing in your present or in your future, nothing in the entire universe, no matter how ‘high’ or ‘low’ can separate us from His love. Also know that an uncertain salvation is a sad one, which repels rather than attracts others. Do not waste years in self-introspection and doubt wondering if you are saved or not. All the Bible is asking you is to BELIEVE IN CHRIST and OBEY HIS COMMANDS. Move forward with confidence that you are secure in Him because you salvation does not depend on you: you are not going to heaven because you are hanging onto God. You’re going to go to heaven because God is holding onto you, because He is the One who initiated the Good works in you AND He will finish it. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
