Most believers know this verse: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit”, but do we always understand what the Lord wants to tell us in these few words? Now, when we see how some believers act or even how some servants of God sometimes behave, it is interesting to look into this verse closely. My brother, my sister, are you still in survival mode, trying to live your life by forcing things? Then read today’s verse and keep it in mind once and for all: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit.” What does this mean? You see, the key words here are “BUT BY MY SPIRIT”. First of all, our Lord is not interested in earthly things that you are looking to perform or get (wealth, health, house, papers, travelling, work, etc…). He is more interested in your spiritual life. That is why, every day, He searches through your heart, not through the material possessions you have acquired. The Bible says: “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve” (Jeremiah 17:10). You see, He is ready to give you in the land of the living… but if he has not yet done so, then ask yourself this: ‘what has He found in my heart and in my mind today? Secondly, because everything happens spiritually before beginning to materialize physically, He wants your soul to prosper first: “I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2). In other words, your physical prosperity and health depends on the state of your soul! Now, you might ask yourself ‘what does all this has to do with today’s verse?’ It simple: some believers are so much hooked on themselves (me, myself & I) or to servants of God that they don’t realise that man is as empty as themselves and can do nothing… without the Holy Spirit. Besides, the call of every believer is to become a disciple in order to benefit from the transforming power of the Holy Spirit who transforms us from inside out but also to be able to use the authority Jesus has given us to “trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19). Therefore, if you have not yet become a true disciple of the Lord, it is because you are still carrying your own bag or that of a man. Yet, it is only in the bag of the Holy Spirit that you will find what it takes to become a true disciple, a man or a woman who can have an impact in this generation and help others find their ways in Christ in order to be transformed from inside out! Yes, when God says “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit”, He is telling us is that it is ONLY in the hands of a true believer with a repentant heart, which is surrendered to the Holy Spirit, can we really see the mountains moved, the enemy turn back and victory over evil. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
