TODAY’S MEDITATION – Who has God asked to take care for your spiritual life? (Jeremiah 23:1-4)

My brother, my sister, God has placed you somewhere that your spiritual life may be developed. Sometimes, we easily look at church leaders and start criticising them. Do you realise that God is look at what they are feed with? what they are doing? Today’s passage says this: “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture… Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord… And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord”.

This is interesting, right? Those responsible to nourish and lead the people of God are held accountable for those entrusted to them, they are accountable to God. This, therefore, tells us that, if God knows that you are in the care of someone and you refuse or reject that person, you could put yourself at fault before the Lord. God is faithful and expects all of us to be faithful.

In today’s church, many believers want to be in the church but do not want to follow the lead of the shepherds. The Bible says: “And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding” (Jeremiah 3:15). My friend, you do not choose your shepherd as you did not choose the family you were born in. We should learn that God is leading us to the shepherds He knows can handle us according to His will. These days, because people want to be independent, they lead themselves to the shepherds of their liking… let’s learn to ask the Lord and wait on Him to lead us for His ways are perfect. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
