TODAY’S MEDITATION – Who am I in Christ? (Romans 8:35)

So many believers live heavy lives, powerless before the trials because they have not yet realised their identity in Christ. My brother, my sister, it is crucial for you to stop believing Satan’s lies and realise who you are in Christ. You see, we have a new identity once we accept the Lord Jesus. So what you are going to read below should be posted on the first thing you see every morning when you wake up, unless you can remember it:

1- YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD. So, Satan’s lies that you have to live according to your past or the history of your family cannot stand: “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith” (Galatians 3:26). Also read John 1:12, Galatians 4:6-7, Ephesians 1:4 and Romans 8:16-17. Now start confessing that you are no longer a slave to your past, for your future does not depend on your environment or your family lineage since your Father in Heaven, who made you made you co-heir to all His riches with Christ, has the whole world in His hands.

2- YOU ARE REDEEMED. Redeemed by Jesus Christ, Satan’s argument that you are of little worth cannot stand. My friend, Your worth is established once and for all, and can never change or diminish. God has made the ultimate offer and paid the highest price for you: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7). Read the following verses 1 Peter 1:18-19, Titus 2:14 then confess that you are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, redeemed through His infinite mercy… Therefore His child you are forever.

3- YOU ARE A FORGIVEN. So, Satan’s lies that your past sins are so awful that it is impossible for you to find forgiveness and acceptance cannot stand. My friend, Bible says: “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). Yes, the blood of Jesus cleanses you, no matter how big you sinned. All the Lord wants from you once you are forgiven is to stop sinning, and to also forgive the others. Read these verses: Ephesians 1:6-7, 1 John 1:7, Ephesians 4:32. Now start working in the light and shame Satan by destroying his playground in your life, which is an unforgiving spirit.

4- YOU ARE A NEW CREATION. Has Satan been lying to you that you cannot really change? My friend, then you should rather believe God’s Word, for it is written: your old life of sin was defeated and destroyed by your repentance, your old nature was conquered by the cross. Now you are new creation. So, in the light of the Word of God, set yourself new goals, new values, new desires, new attitudes, new thoughts, new actions, new everything. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ezekiel 36:26, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and 2 Peter 1:3-4…. and determine to let the Spirit of God work in you to help you change in a way that is pleasing to God.

5- YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER. Satan is such a liar: has he been telling you that you are incapable of having victory over your besetting sins? Today, remind him that God has never been defeated and He will never be… your life belongs to Christ who defeated Satan, so there is no place for failure in your life. Read: Romans 8:37, Romans 6:14 and 1 Corinthians 15:57… Confess that you are an overcomer: yes, the promises of God’s Word will make you overcome the trials of life because of Him who dwells in you and strengthens you. There is a future of joy, peace, prosperity and happiness for you in Christ, so stick to Him! So today determine to stop looking in the past, but remember that victory is yours when you stop believing your life is about you and focus on Christ and His Word!

My friend, allow me to end up with today’s verse that says: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” (Romans 8:35). Just notice that the Bible says ‘WHO’… and the answer is not a human being, but a list of problems we can encounter: trouble, hardship, famine, etc… all those things that want to weigh down our faith. Now, knowing your identity in Christ, recall ‘WHO’ wants to separate you from the love of Christ who you are in Christ. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
