TODAY’S MEDITATION – What’s your purpose in this life? (Ecclesiastes 1:1-18)

Solomon is one person in the Bible who had everything (wisdom, power, riches, honour, reputation, God’s favor, etc.). Yet, He is the one who talks about the emptiness of all that this world has to offer. These verses are very deep and every Christian should be aware of the message Solomon is giving us, which is, we need to realise that confidence in our own efforts, abilities and righteousness is meaningless. Instead, our commitment to God is the only reason for living. My brother, my sister, looking back on everything he has done, Solomon saw that most of it seemed meaningless and found out that only God made him happy. The lesson we can get from Solomon’s experience today is that, this richest man of the Bible who tried everything and achieved so much did not find happiness elsewhere but in his relationship with God. So, if you are trying to find meaning in your accomplishments rather than in God, you will never be satisfied, and everything you pursue will become meaningless. That is the reason why so many people feel restless and dissatisfied even though they are well-off of blessed with material possessions. You should always take a hard and close look at your life, as Solomon did his, and you will see how important serving God is over all other options. In the end, as you read the book of Ecclesiastes you see that Solomon is inviting us to question our own faith, challenging us to find true and lasting meaning in God alone, not on what the world offers.Today, as you are reading this Word of Faith, perhaps the Lord is asking you to rethink your purpose and direction in life, just as Solomon did in Ecclesiastes. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
