TODAY’S MEDITATION – Whatever happens in your life be still (Psalm 46:1-11)

Sometimes things happen to us that hurt us so bad and makes our spirit throbs inside us: seeing our dreams falling apart…our hopes fading; seeing our lives becoming a wearisome drudgery, a marriage going bad… health problems developing, financial problems coming up, or a loved one dies… My brother, my sister, all these things are part of our lives, and unfortunately they tend to lead us to the temptation to give up. But as we read this Psalm, we understand on key verse that says it all: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. My friends the Bible says IN time of trouble which means not before or after but during, in the midst of trouble. Yes, whenever you are in time of trouble, then stick even closer to God, because He is closer to you than any man on this earth. That is why He has given us the assurance that we may go through a long night of sorrow and suffering but the dawn brings God’s help (Psalm 30:5). My friend, what is your reaction in times of trouble? Do you try to handle the problems alone and become afraid when they slip out of your hands? Do you get into a tight place alone and finally find yourself outmatched, outnumbered and outwitted by the difficulties of life? Do you forget the promises of God for your life? My friend, the Lord is telling you “Be still, and know that I am God” (verse 10). Yes, “Relax” or “Be still.” Stop fighting, it so hard and you have no strength! You may ask “How can I do that?” Just by knowing that God is God, that God reigns, that God is still on his Throne. You see, Jesus knew our tendency to fear and be restless, that is why He is telling us “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1). Never forget that our compassionate heavenly Father gives us comfort, hope and peace in his Son Jesus Christ and one day He will wipe away every tear and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
