TODAY’S MEDITATION – What kind of worship do you offer The Lord? (Proverbs 21:27)

Throughout the Old Testament, we read that God required of the priests to offer pure lambs as a foreshadow of “the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God” (1 Peter 1:19) who was going to be offered for us. These verses of Proverbs tell us about the kind of worship that is actually a sacrifice. Many people try to bride God: they go to church faithfully, they tithe faithfully, they volunteer for church work, etc…BUT they do all this not because of their love and devotion to the Lord, but because they hope God will bless them in return. My brother, my sister let no one fool you: God has made it clear that He desires obedience and love more than religious rituals, for the Bible says: “To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice” (Proverbs 21:3). The Lord does not want your sacrifice of time, energy or money alone… He wants your heart along with it, your complete love and devotion. My friend, do not worship the Lord if your heart is not pure, for when you do so as a Christian, then you have not understood the meaning of the Cross, the pure and spotless Lamb of God who was offered for you to be saved, and you are making your own worship an abomination to the Lord. Do not stand before the Lord, do work for Him or even tithe or give any offering at your church tomorrow if you are filled with anger or bitterness against someone… It is not your asking God to forgive you that will make you righteous before Him, it is rather the action (sacrifice) you would have made before standing in His presence to bring peace where there was problems that matters much, because that action could mean you have to humble yourself and go and ask that person to forgive you whether you did wrong or not, just to do what is right and just for the Lord. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
