Today’s passage says this: “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
My brother, my sister, let’s go back in history and remember that when sacrificing an animal according to God’s law in the Old Testament, the priest would kill the animal, cut it in pieces and place it on the altar. Sacrifice was important but even in the Old Testament, God made it clear that obedience from the heart was much more important (Amos 5:21-24).
My friend, God want us, ‘His holy priests’, to offer ourselves as living and spiritual sacrifices, daily laying aside our own desires and following Him, putting all our energy and resources at His disposal and trusting Him to guide us. Today, ask yourself what are the ‘spiritual sacrifices’ you are offering God… do you offer Him those sacrifices wholeheartedly or because you just have to do it? Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
