TODAY’S MEDITATION – To access the promises of God, His Word first needs to be rooted in your heart (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)

Many believers spend more than reasoning with God than doing what He asks. My brother, my sister, we should not reason about the things of God, but we must listen and obey the Lord once His Spirit convinces us of our sin or what to direction to take. The truth is. Our will will never prevail over God’s will, and our will will lead us to pain, worries and strife: Ishmael was born by the will of Sarah and Abraham… In the end, They wanted Ishmael out of their sight for peace in their home. But the son of the promise of God, who came late in their eyes was going to be the one through whom all the promises of God for Abraham were going to be fulfilled. The promises of God cannot be accomplished through what you get by force or what comes from your own will!

The fact is that there are thousands of promises in God’s Word that are available to each and every one of us, if we would just learn how to lay hold of them. We do not access many promises only because they are still where God released them: on heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:3). However, for a reason unknown, not to say because of lack of knowledge, many believers have the deceiving thought that we can just name a promise and claim it, and we will receive it. My friend, the Bible says: “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands” (Deuteronomy 28:12). This does not happen because you can pray, fast, speak or preach well… It happens only “if you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands” (Deuteronomy 28:1)…

My friend, there is more involved in this process of receiving God’s blessings and promises than just speaking words that have not taken root in our hearts. His word must be made a reality to us first and we must learn how to appropriate it into our lives.

So, if you truly want to see the heavens opened over your home, your situation, your church, your school and your nation, it’s going to take more effort than just saying a lifeless quick prayer in the morning before going to work or in the evening before going to bed: it’s going to take a genuine commitment on your part. The Bible says “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)… Yes, the blessings a phase already been sent out spiritually. Would you now do your part to receive them materially? How? It’s simple: you cannot get to high places without becoming more spiritual; besides, says the Lord: “All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 28:2). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
