Yesterday, a sister called me asking me to pray for her because she has struggled. The spirit revealed to me what she was struggling with before she said so I asked her a question and she answered “yes”. I gave her a passage of the Word of God to read. She said I know this passage. Then I said, repent and do what the Word tells you. This morning she called me to say ‘Thank you sister for this eye opener… most of the time we only need the Word of God to make that move!’ Indeed, when she woke up this morning and opened her Bible to read the passage, the Spirit immediately led her to repent and she decided to take action this very morning… but above all she said she already relieved. I said glory be to God. I added this sentence: ‘alleluia, the Word of God is alive, it is the mouth of God’. Then I sent her to read Psalm 107:20 “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.”
My brother, my sister, sometimes prayer does not work because we just dont do what the Word of God tells us to do. Last night I briefly prayed for this sister because I had promised to do so, but I had also told her that the answer to her prayer is applying the Word of God. This morning, as you read this, ask yourself what you have done with the Word of God you hear. God is bound by His Word because He cannot lie and must be true to His Word, He is subject to His Word: “In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth… Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens” (Psalm 119:88-89). Yes, whoever does not have the Word of God does not have life… that person is spiritually dead, that’s why the Word has no effect on him/her and therefore he/she cannot keep the commands of God… That is why unbelievers often do what is contrary to the Word and refuse to repent.
My friends, only the Spirit of God within you will urge you to do the will of God, to do what God is asking you to do. You see, God’s reputation is built on His Word. His Word is SETTLED. God cannot and will not go contrary to His Word. God is sovereign but His sovereignty cannot override His righteousness and holiness, and His holiness will not allow Him to violate His own commands. Therefore, ask yourself what you do when you hear the Word of God spoken to you. Yes, “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9). And we all know that Jesus is the Word that was made flesh (John 1:14). Therefore, disobeying the Word of God is rejecting Jesus while applying the Word of God is allowing Jesus to do something for us. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
