TODAY’S MEDITATION – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…” (Luke 4:18)

The Bible says when we accept the Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit of the Living God comes and dwells in us for one of the reasons we can read on this passage. My brother, my sister, today, allow me to tackle an issue that may concern you or someone you know (so please pass the message around). Anyway, the message is for someone who has been distracted by Satan instead of producing the fruit of the Spirit, only because they have not yet understood why Jesus came into this world.

My friend, today I want to address self-proclaimed demon busters who spend more time studying demonic activities, listening only to programmes related to demonic possessions, tracking demons on people, seeing demons on themselves or others, etc. Those people have watched all videos you can find on the Internet about demons, deliverance, possessions, etc… It is such a pity! What is even more frightening is that when such people meet other Christians, they want to spread their distractions by talking about their discoveries about Satan and his demonic activities more than they would talk about Jesus, while the Bible says: “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst” (Matthew 18:20). Now, those who gather in the name of the Lord because they are Christians and spend more time talking about Satan and his little demons, who is in the midst of them?

We, Christians, need to learn to do what we saw Jesus doing: where in the Bible do you read that Jesus sat down with His disciple to teach them about Satan’s tactics or whatever Satan is doing on earth? But, wherever Jesus went and there was need for healing or deliverance, He healed or delivered and moved on spreading the Good News of the Kingdom. Today, many believers know the names of all demons, all illuminati people on earth, all people around them who are possessed… Does that glorify God at all? The worse about this is that the same people have little knowledge of the Lord! The Spirit in us is supposed to lead us to do and talk about the things that glorify God and God alone! Today’s verses is clear: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

My friend, the Good News is not about warning people of satanic activities on earth… and even the people who were called as Ministers of deliverance don’t speak about satanic activities the way self-proclaimed demon busters do! The Good News is about proclaiming God’ love. The Bible says: “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). What is the Word of God you are reading then that leads you to proclaim Satan more than Christ? That is why it’s not surprising to see that those demon busters live in fear, spiritual confusion, disorder, doubts, etc… all the fruit produced by the evil spirits they have spent time studying. Have you ever watched an horror movie and find it hard to sleep at night? That’s the result of your eyes and mind being set on Satan and demonic works rather than on Jesus! However, when you believe in God’s protection and God’s love you also know that “no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you” (Isaiah 54:17) and that Satan can always try, but you are more than conqueror in Christ (Romans 8:37). Therefore, you should spend more time talking to your Lord and Saviour and seek His face, for He is the only one who gives true peace.

Today, look at all the prophets and disciples of Christ, where do you see them studying demons? Have you ever read that they spent time becoming experts in demonology? Have you been called to study Satan and his demons? With all you know about the demons and all the binding you have done, why has your life not changed yet, why is it that Satan is still holding you captives in many areas of your life? The answer is simple: “a house divided against itself cannot stand” (Mark 3:25): you cannot be so much interested in him and what He is doing and expect him to let go of you so quickly, can you! My friend, if you recognise yourself in this meditation today, do not harden your heart or let pride take control. Turn to Jesus, repent and determine to set your eyes on Him and things above. Stop trying to understand things you will never understand because that fight is not yours. It’s the fight of your Lord and He has already won it anyway. Your fight is to do the will of God and allow the Spirit of God to anoint you to proclaim the Good News. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
