TODAY’S MEDITATION – The prayer that brings breakthrough starts with the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 1:14)

Today’s passage says this: “Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you–guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us”
Many Christians have the sad feeling, at some point in time of their lives, that the Lord has abandoned them. My brother, my sister, since the Cross, if you truly have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, then you should know that He can not abandon you because His spirit dwells in you. Let me recall you that dwelling means to live as a permanent resident within you.
You see, it is only you who can separate yourself from this indwelling presence by the way you choose to live. The Spirit of God does not share with the devil or evil works of the devil. Therefore, if you choose evil ways, the Spirit will sleep instead of you and let you do as you want… God does not share His glory, so if you prefer to walk without Him, despite the presence of His Spirit, He will not force you. The Lord wants us to freely abandon ourselves to His guidance and might, in faith. He does not need our input in fulfilling His mighty promises in our lives.
You see, many believers have made prayer the only point to reach God. It’s a wrong belief because our ways are much more important than any prayer we may say. That is why the Lord says: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). All this to say that, if your prayers remain unanswered, and you have been praying to God, then check that you have humbled yourself to acknowledge the power of the Spirit of God that dwells in you, that you have been seeking His face truly (to get to know who He is, what He likes or dislikes) and most importantly, that you have turned from your wicked ways. Yes, God hears our prayers. And even Better, Jesus is our advocate before the Father: “Christ Jesus who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us” (Romans 8:34). So, it is the way you acknowledge the truth of His indwelling presence that can help you see a breakthrough… not a set of prayers that are not accompanied by a true change in heart or attitude. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
