TODAY’S MEDITATION – The Lord wants you to have His kind of forgiving spirit (Hosea 3:1)

One thing that is very difficult with all of us is forgiving. In this verse, God is asking His prophet Hosea to do something many would think unthinkable: to go and buy back his adulterous and unrepentant wife, and to continue to love her (Gomer who must have sold herself or became the mistress of another man). My brother, my sister, imagine Hosea was your pastor, your friend or a family member? What would you have told him seeing him doing what he did? Yes, we are so quick to judge the others, aren’t we? But we also tend to forget that God’s ways are not man’s ways (Isaiah 55:8). Without any doubt we can think that when those who knew about Gomer’s adultery heard Hosea say God loved adulterous Israel as Hosea loved Gomer, many must have been amazed or thought Hosea has lost his mind. Looking into it with our judgmental mind, Hosea had good grounds to divorce Gomer, and many would have been quick to quote the Bible to tell him to divorce His wife! But God’s thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). My friend, it is easy to say we are made in God’s image… Therefore, we ought to have His kind of forgiving spirit! He loves us so much that He sent us Jesus, for our own redemption, to buy us back from the slavery of sin… May this message speak to someone today and bring them back to the truth of God’s love. stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
