TODAY’S MEDITATION – The Lord is near you when you are in trouble (Luke 4:19)

All of us want God to help us, especially when we are in trouble. The truth is that God is near those who are troubled. My brother, my sister, Jesus came for you who need Him, thus he proclaimed what Isaiah had written before He came into the earth: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor”.

Yes, today, no matter what you want, when you call on the Lord Jesus for help, first consider your motives; You see, some people are calling Him selfishly so that they can be successful in what they are doing. My friend, when you call the Lord for help, always consider your motives. it is to save yourself pain and embarrassment or to bring God glory and honour? You see, the Bible says if you obey the commands of God, He will “open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none” (Deuteronomy 28:12). So, stop praying for the success of your business or work… and obey Him! Other people want the Lord’s help so that they will be comfortable and feel good about themselves. The Bible says “in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers”… therefore, if you are not physically or spiritually healthy or you feel depressed and you don’t happen to feel happy, it may be that your soul is still tormented and is certainly not yet subjected to the Spirit of God.

Yes, the Lord is near you when you feel bad, when you need help. But what do you ask Him in such time? ‘I want to feel good?… I need more money to pay my bills?’ My friend, if knew how much he is eager to see you out of your problems you would not even have to pray this way. So, change the way you pray and rather ask Him ‘Lord, teach me to obey your Word so that i may prosper from inside out’. Yes, we don’t receive because we don’t pray according to God’s will and His plans for you are “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). So trust in Him, stop believing in yourself or what the circumstances show you! The Lord is ready to bring His Good News ro you today. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
