TODAY’S MEDITATION – The Lord has no favourite preacher, what about you? (1 Corinthians 1:12-13)

Today’s church is promoting fanaticism within the body of Christ in a growing way that is frightening as it makes believers unsettled, unstable and wandering. The body of Christ is made of different families (members) and just as you were born into an earthly family, you should belong to a local church to grow spiritually, work for the Kingdom of God, and find help to seek the face of God in it. Have you never thought or heard this: “that preacher is excellent?” “let’s go to church because today this preacher is coming?” My brother, my sister, a wandering believer is no more than a fan of man who goes to church to watch the preacher… and they are wandering because they are looking for the best preacher, the one who will preach what they would like to hear, the one who will touch their feelings. You see, this had happened before us: the Corinthian church was founded by Apostle Paul. Now, after some years, the Corinthians had split into various groups, following their favourite preacher (Paul, Apollos, Peter, etc.). On today’s verse Paul says: “For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you. Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of Apollos,” and “I of Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?” May those who have ears hear this! A man was not crucified for you!!! Now let’s reflect on this question: do you start looking for your neighbour’s father who is more eloquent and abandon yours because he is not? Do you leave your family because they are not visibly rich for a family that is visibly rich? Beware what your eyes see, my friend! Eve saw the apple before she ate it! Most of the time we follow people because of what we see, unknowingly of their spiritual state! The church is about Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only one who can do something in your life: he can give you relief when in pain; heal you when sick; restore you when broken; give you consolation when heartbroken, deliver you when oppressed. A preacher can only give the message that is received from the Spirit of God, just like a water pump lets water arrive to your home tap for you to drink it. Therefore, if the source of the water is stopped, the water pump becomes useless and your tap will no longer be able to provide you with water… So, look for the source instead! Why? Because the preacher’s hands are as empty as yours if they are not filled by the power and anointing of the Spirit of God; the preacher’s prayers are as empty as yours if they are not made in Spirit and in truth. In other words, no preacher of God has a better status than another before the Lord and whatever a preacher is capable of doing, you are also capable of doing it yourself, as long as you seek the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness first… and spend lots of time with the Lord. Just notice this: among those who follow preachers because they are famous or known for healing or deliverance or any miracles, how many have seen their lives transformed really? If someone keeps running after preachers for healing it is obviously because they have not found it yet! You can become a fan of a human being only when you have not yet met Jesus Christ Himself! My friend, the Lord said: “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me” (Isaiah 65:1)… If God can answer the prayers and reveal Himself to those who do not seek Him, how much more to you who believes in Him and in Jesus. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
