Once they accept the Lord Jesus, many believers expect Him to start talking to them, guiding them, showing them what to do in this life to succeed, feel better, etc… as long as their own lives and unwanted situation change. My brother, my sister, when we look at what Jesus di when He met Saul, we understand that the first thing that is required of all of us once we meet the Lord is obedience and submission to His Word. Yes, listen to what Jesus said to Saul: “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do” (verse 6). Saul had to obey the Lord immediately by taking a step, although did not know what was next stage. This is believe in Jesus! The same, when Jesus met zacchaeus, He told him: “Zacchaeus, come down immediately” (Luke 19:5). And the Bible says Zacchaeus “came down at once” (Luke 19:6).
My friend, since you met the Lord, if your life has not really changed it is because you could be waiting for a miraculous change that requires nothing of you, or else the Lord asked you to do something you still have not done, or He expects you to ask Him, “Lord, what do you want me to do now?” But as the Bible shows us in this passage, Jesus has certainly told you what He wanted you to do immediately, but did you hear or listen to Him? Today, learn from His own principles and know that the Lord will not move forward with you if what He expects of you today has not been completed. This is why many believers end up leaving this world without ever seeing the promises of God fulfilled in their lives!
The fact that the lives of Zacchaeus and Saul drastically changed after their encounter with the Lord says it all: their obedience is the key! They accepted the Lord for Him, not for their own needs to be fulfilled. My friend, regardless of how you met the Lord, if that brought you into submission and obedience that allows you to offer Him true worship, then you can really be converted from within and your life will change. Unfortunately, many believers have an interested mind, as if the Lord does not see it! He knows everything about us… So, yield to His teachings, obey Him without asking ‘why?’. Thus He will heal your land (2 Chronicles 7:14) and guide your steps. You see, the Bible says: “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6). There is no leeway: everything you expect of the Lord begins with your submission and obedience to His Word! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
