TODAY’S MEDITATION – The Cross breaks generational curses! (2 Corinthians 5:17-19)

We have all heard of a family in the United States called the Kennedy family (type “Kenedy curse” on google to find out how many of them died violently (gun shot, plane crash, sport accidents, after giving birth, etc.) As Christians, we know that the spiritual meaning of things is more important than what we see physically. Now, if we look back into the history of this family and relate some events to the Word of God, things will sound more realistic. My brother, my sister, whatever you do that crosses the line of the Word will one day catch you up, if not you personally, may be your descendants! God has not changed and He still gets angry at us when we transgress His laws. His anger is slow to have effects, but it does not means that He overlooks our sins. Coming back to the Kennedy family, history tells us that the patriarch of the family made a fortune selling liquor during a time when it was illegal to sell it in the United States. If something is forbidden, why do it? Look at what the Bible say: “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies! “(Habakkuk 2:15)

My friend, there are curses from the Word of God pertaining to the blood lines… Now, when we come to Christ, we are reconciled to God and become subject to the grace and mercy of God. We are instantly freed from our past, and from the wrath of God and future damnation. We are also set free from every curse and sin (individual or generational). That is therreason why the Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:17-19).

However, it is when we refuse to abide in Christ, after accepting Him, when we continue violating the Word of God in one way or another that we ourselves open the doors to the devil to come back or link us back to the things Jesus had already freed us from. My friend, Breaking generational curses comes alone through Christ and salvation. Breaking generational curses comes at the Cross. In short: you have to let the blood of Jesus Christ break every bondage over you. It doesn’t matter if your father or grandfather was the greatest witch throughout the world, that bondage is broken in the life of the saved believer. You are no longer under generational curses. At Calvary the guilt of your sins was transferred to Christ, your full penalty was laid upon Him. Therefore you are freed from all (or any) generational curses. But to keep that freedom, renew your mind and let the Holy Spirit take control of your life. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
