TODAY’S MEDITATION – Should Christians avoid unbelievers? (Psalm 26:4-5)

Should we stay away from unbelievers? No. Although Christians should avoid some places that are clearly named territories of the devil such as night clubs, etc. Jesus demonstrated that we must go among unbelievers to help them. My brother, my sister, there is a difference between being with unbelievers and being one of them. It is simple: acting like unbelievers harms our witness of God.

Today’s passage says this: “I do not spend time with liars or go along with hypocrites. I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked”. Today, my friend, ask yourself about the people you enjoy: if you are with them often, will you become less obedient to God in outlook or action? If you are sincere with yourself and the answer is ‘YES’, then carefully monitor their influence on you, for someone in the world is under the rule of the king of the world… so if your friends drag you to the world instead of you leading them to Jesus… your faith is hanging on a cliff edge and is not yet rooted in Christ. You can’t pretend to love Jesus (the Truth) and feel good among liars or hypocrites. Also, remember that, if you choose to lack honesty about your love for the world instead, it engages only you for the Lord who sees everything cannot be fooled: His Word will not change and it says: “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14). Jesus has already made you the righteousness of God (Romans 3:22) and called you the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16)… so, how can you team up with people who don’t love or care about God (wickedness and darkness)?

My friend, the truth has to be told. Too many believers team up daily, second after second, with unbelievers as if nothing. If you recognise yourself, know that it’s a denial of your own love for Christ… reposition yourself and follow the Word of God, not your friends or own passions because they are temporary… and they are delaying if not diverting you from the plan and purposes of God for your life. Whoever has ears, let them hear. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
