TODAY’S MEDITATION – Praying together helps us to communicate with each other (Jacques 5:16)

One of the things that allow the devil to work his evil plans in most families and relationships is the lack of communication. My brother, my sister, we must learn to communicate effectively: relationships are broken, families are destroyed, churches stagnate, etc… due to lack of communication. But what is communication? God initiated communication from the Garden of Eden and He gave us prayer as a means of communication. Therefore, if we want to be effective in prayer, we must know what we are praying for… and to know what we are praying for, we must learn to communicate effectively with each other.

My friend, how can you pray effectively for a family member with whom you have not talked in years? How can you pray effectively for a brother you do not know? Yes, we need to know what God is doing in the lives of others. We need to know what is going on to have our finger on it in prayer. As Christians, we are not “islands”, we are part of a family. Many people want to go solo as Christians while we are not supposed to “go it alone” we should share our trials and joys, successes and failures, our desires and concerns so that we can pray and encourage each other. That’s why the Bible says, “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves” (Romans 15:1). The Bible also says: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (Jacques 5:16). Unfortunately, many people gather in prayer hiding their faults, their weaknesses and infirmities, but hope to see the prayer they do with others efficient. Imagine be a person who has a foot ache but told you that they have a headache… you would be praying for headache. How can God answer this prayer or even that person?

God is the God of unity. My friend, if you really want the Lord to change a situation (family conflicts, relationship issues, etc…) praying on the surface will only relieve the pain or hurt, but it will never heal. True healing comes from a prayer that is made from the root, while the lies or the works of the enemy are exposed to allow the truth of the living God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, to take place in the same place… and it is useless to try to cover the lack of sincerity by money, offerings or well-oiled speeches because the Truth (Jesus) will never remain where dirt is covered even by the purest linen… Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
