Today’s passage says this: “7 You are judging by appearances.[a] If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as they do. 8 So even if I boast somewhat freely about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up rather than tearing you down, I will not be ashamed of it. 9 I do not want to seem to be trying to frighten you with my letters. 10 For some say, “His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing.”
My brother, my sister, here Apostle Paul hs to deal with opposition: some people portrayed him as weak and powerless, despite seeing what the Lord was doing with him and through him. Sometimes, it is like that: because people don’t understand what the Lord is doing with you or through you, they criticise you. But how did Apostle Paul react?
He did not go about justifying himself or what he was called to do. He only reminded the Corinthians that he had been given authority by the Lord. You see, ignorance will always urge the ignorant to speak about things they don’t understand or know. Here, it was false teachers, who had no understanding of the Word, were encouraging the believers to ignore Apostle Paul. Sometimes, it is our status as followers of Christ that is challenged by worldly people. Remember that “the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6).
My friend, don’t worry about what man thinks of you or what they say about your faith… all that matters is the truth you know in your heart that was revealed to you by the Lord. So, keep responding obediently to God’s call to serve Him where you are and do it consistently and with faith, for the authority you have received to do so is not coming from man, but from Jesus who is sending you saying: ““All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go…” (Matthew 28:18-19). Yes, my friend, the One who has authority has sent you to GO…so, gather your strength and do what the Lord has called you to do trusting Him to be with you always. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
