Today’s verse says: “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
My brother, my sister, our sins have convicted and sentenced us, but Jesus holds the keys of death and the grave. So many people are afraid or concerned about their health, or things that may lead to physical death, things that Satan cunningly imposes in our lives. Today, let’s all remember that Jesus alone can free us from eternal bondage to Satan.
As believers, we don’t have to fear death or the grave because Christ holds the keys to both. All we must do is turn from sin and turn to Him in faith. When we attempt to control our own lives and disregard God, we set a course that leads directly to hell. But when we place our lives in Christ’s hands, He not only protects and restores us now but He also resurrects us later to an eternal peaceful relationship with Him. My friend, one day soon, Just like He appeared to John in glory and splendor, reassuring him that he and his fellow believers had access to God’s strength to face the trials of life, He is willing to do so with each of us. So, no matter what difficulty you are facing, remember that the power available to John and the early church is also available to you: ” You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
