TODAY’S MEDITATION – No matter what happens to you, don’t turn your back on the Lord (Ezekiel 23:35)

Today’s passage says this: “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Since you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution.”

My brother, my sister, God constantly reminds us our tendency to forget Him, which is the root of many sins and troubles in our lives. A dictionary gives us these three definitions of the word FORGET: to be unable to think of or remember something ; to fail to remember to bring or take something; to stop thinking or caring about someone. Now the question is how can anyone forget God? The image that comes to mind is this: before Istart driving, I used to take the bus with my youngest child on his stroller. For several months, after I had dropped him at the nursery, I always had the feeling of having forgotten him in the bus every time I got off a bus. The point here is the fact that my child was now going to the nursery and it was a kind of separation and my mind had to adapt to this new situation.

Now, many believers find it so easy to be separated from the Lord (they take a break from reading the Word, they take a break from church, they choose to do what pleases them…) without feeling that little pinch in the heart? My friend, if that is your case, then Jesus is still not your priority, you still don’t feel like a mother who has the feeling to have forgotten her child in a bus… The fact is, Jesus does not need your presence, He wants your heart! Jesus does not need your money, He wants your heart… there is nothing you and I can ever do that would equal the cross… but become aware that forgetting God and turning your back to Him has consequences. The first consequence is that it reveals your lewdness and spiritual prostitution or unfaithfulness… And this is what pains God the most: unfaithfulness: ” They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt” (Psalm 106:21)… yes, just like Solomon, many people tend to forget the Lord once they have been blessed… Solomon paid the price of his idolatry and unfaithfulness and it is his son who had to bear the consequences: “So the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and you have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant” (1 Kings 11:11).

My friends, we must understand that everyone will have to answer one day for their choices: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). Once you have started your journey with the Lord Jesus, whatever happens, don’t give up, don’t turn your back on Him because not only would you sadden the Lord if you don’t fan His wrath, but also you would make yourself a good prey for the devil who will ensure you don’t return to the Lord by all means. Stay focused, firmly abide in Christ and He will abide in you to fill you and lead you where God wantq you to be in this life. Jesus Christ is the only true way to know your future. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
