TODAY’S MEDITATION – “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit ” (Philippians 4:23)

A blessing is one way that God uses to express His deep love for us. My brother, my sister, asking God to bless you or to bless someone is simply to ask Him for His divine favour over a situation or over your life or the person’s life. Today, we live in a material society and people have reduced the blessings of God to mere material things they desire. Therefore, when God blesses us with things we need we take it for granted, because “it’s normal”. Really? We should never forget that all our privileges were lost in the garden of Eden… and today, to get to those privileges again we need to get closer to Jesus first and be grateful to Him all the time.

The truth is, if you don’t have Jesus, you are still under the influence of the devil who tricked Adam and Eve to steal the privileges and the blessings of the children of God… and Satan can only offer to you what God has already reserved for you, but at what cost? Now, to access your blessings again in a what that pleases God, you need to yield to Jesus, learn from Him to be empowered and protected by His blood to fight the devil until he releases what he has already stolen from you. My friend, that is the reason why the Bible says “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). My friends, this even teaches us that when some of our needs have not yet been met it is because of the level of our relationship with Christ, for God is willing to meet ALL our needs! The Bible also says: “Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you” (Exodus 23:25). Yes, once again, it is the level or the way we worship God that determines the level of His intervention in our lives.

My friend, the prosperity gospel that says that because we attend a church God will bless us is not the Good News of Christ. The Good News teaches us to obey God first, to seek His Kingdom first, then He will decide when and how to look into our special requests. Yet and still, He blesses us with things we don’t need to ask Him even when we do things that don’t glorify Him, just because He is our Father and He loves us. Today, we understand it through the special blessings God asked the priest Aaron and His sons to pronounce over the people of Israel, so that He will bless them (Numbers 6:22-27)… Today, because we have all become a royal priesthood, in the name of Jesus, I pronounce this over your life: “My friend, May the Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; May the Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). AMEN. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
