TODAY’S MEDITATION – Make the Holy Spirit your prayer partner (Romans 8:29-27)

Many believers acknowledge the Holy Spirit as God and part of the Trinity. Yet, a great majority does not really know how important the Holy Spirit is, especially in our daily lives and they tend to neglect Him. Yes, many people don’t know about the role of the Spirit of God in their walk with the Lord because they think the Spirit of God acts only or mainly to help the servants of God fulfill their missions or ministries. And many churches have maintained such heresy to control believers in a way that even miracles seem to be performed by men who seem to have submitted the Spirit of God to their authority. My, brother, my sister, you can believe such a thing only when you don’t read the Bible or when you pick and choose from the Bible, and above all when you still don’t know Jesus. You see, the first role of the Spirit of God is to convince you of your sins, not necessarily to deliver you or to heal you! (John 16:7-11). That is the reason why, so many people remain undelivered in our churches where more emphasis is put on what the Spirit of God can perform outwardly than the fact that He is here to help us apply the truths of God and to transform us inwardly first. If you have unconfessed sins hidden within you, no matter how long they lay hands on you or pray for your deliverance, the Spirit cannot act effectively and powerfully because God does things in order. Just react Acts 10:44 and you will see that Cornelius and his family were seized by the Spirit of God as Peter was telling them about Jesus (Peter was not praying for them, He was only preaching the Good News to them!!!). Another role of the Spirit of God is to give us spiritual gifts, not for us to pride ourselves but to help function as the body of Christ but also to fight our spiritual battles (1 Corinthians 12:1-3), He is also there to help us produce fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). Now, read today’s passage and John 14:12-20, and you will understand that Jesus said “whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these” (verse 12), that “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13), and above all “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever, the Spirit of truth” (verse 17). In short, the Spirit of God within you is not submitted to your will or any man’s will, but to the Father’s will… Besides, His role is not to serve you ( that was Jesus’ role, thus His sacrifice on the Cross)… The Spirit of God is your comforter, your helper! Today thank God for the Holy Spirit in your life and be aware of His presence as He is there to take you where God wants you to be by changing you from inside out. Therefore you need to partner with Him in your prayers. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
