Before Daniel told the king anything concerning the interpretation of his dream, he gave credit to God, explaining that it was not his own wisdom, but only because God gave him the revelation that he was able to explain this dream. It is so easy to take credit for what God does through us, isn’t it? My brother, my sister, every time we do not acknowledge or that we do not credit God for our success, we are robbing Him the honour due to Him.
Why is it bad not to give the glory to God?
You see, when we do not share what God has done for us with others, we are pointing our achievements or success to our own abilities. Listen to Daniel’s words to understand that every little thing that happens to us may be seen by others as normal if we do not point them to God so as to give Him the glory: “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, 28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries” (verses 27-28). My friend, do you realise that the food you have on your table today was provided by the Most High, not by your salary, because your salary comes from the favour God granted you to find a work or to have someone who can feed you? Even for simple things like this, sometimes we forget to give God the glory He deserves. Yet the Bible says: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17) and “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Yes, God deserves our thanksgiving, our appreciation for His goodness that He renews in our lives and for the great things He does in us and through us each day. We should learn to be faithful in showing people that who we are and what we have on this earth comes from Him and Him alone… My friend, He’s got the whole world in His hands… look at the size of your hand today: can it contain your health, your children, your work, your bank account… anything at all? Sometimes your hand contains money you think is yours and the next minute the money is gone. If God would not want to provide you with more, where would you get more? He deserves our praise, our worship and glory for all that happens to us on earth. Also, like Daniel, learn to direct people to God through our successes and achievements so that all the glory He deserves will return to Him. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
