Today’s passage says this: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
This verse rings out a challenge that is undiminished through the ages. It is taken from The Sermon on The Mount. In fact, it may have become so familiar to many of us that we have missed a deeper truth that Jesus was not teaching the masses when He spoke The Sermon On …The Mount, butHe was directly addressing His disciples, the very ones He chose to be His closest earthly associates, friends, and students, the ones to whom the trust in propagating His Word was to be given. Today, these words should be examples for those who follow Him because they are most intimate teaching that Jesus did.
My brother, my sister, with Jesus, we start where we are and work to grow from that point. No one has arrived. We are all in process. The point is to press on towards the high mark of the upward call of God in Christ. That is the reason why we need to acknowledge that through Christ we have received the light of God. Therefore, may your light so shine among men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in Heaven. You may wonder what this verse means. Well, it is simple: as believers of Christ, we are committed not to perpetuate mediocrity, but to strive for greatness. So many people are pursuing excellence in their own lives but they are not doing the same as far as God’s Kingdom is concerned. Your light comes from God and He wants it to shine for Him to be glorified. Let’s stop seeing the light of God only on those things that benefit us on this earth: God is in heaven we are on earth… Though He cares for us on earth, what matters for Him is not the food we eat, the money we have, the big cars or houses we have… but what shows the world His greatness, His excellency, His power, His might… and those things are eternal, invisible, spiritual. My friend, we have a spiritual heritage. We have inherited it from those first disciples who sat on the Mount with Jesus. He told them to let their light shine and, through them, the charge comes to us. We are they who believe in Him through their word. (John 17:20). so, let’s your light shine from today by carrying the message of Christ to bring light into this world. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
