The book of proverbs was written by the man who asked God for wisdom, and God indeed gave Him wisdom and more than he had asked for. My brother, my sister, school, life and situations sometimes teach us things, but the true wisdom we need is the one that comes from our Lord. Many times we see the pharisees trying to trap our Lord Jesus, but He always answered them in a way that caused confusion in their minds, or through Parables, because His wisdom was above their human understanding though they were considered to be the wise of their time. This is the wisdom we should seek in our walk with Him. Now, the Lord has made it available by allowing the father of wisdom to leave a book in the Word, so we may have a guide in our search for divine wisdom. Indeed in the book of Proverbs, Solomon instructs the young people like a father giving advice to his child, but also it addresses everyone else, regardless of age, sex or position in society. Therefore the book of Proverbs should be studied diligently and read daily, as it gives us practical wisdom for daily living as it answers all aspects of our lives: education, work, success, money and money management, marriage, family life; home management, business management, tackling fear, dealing with debts, children’s education, friendship management, etc… Yes, God wants us to be wise and as always He portrays us in two contrasting paths of life: the fool or the wicked who hates Him, or the stubborn who ignores Him and the wise person who seeks to know and love Him. Being in a church does not make you wise if you still don’t personally know the Lord! For when you know Him, you will fear Him, be faithful to Him and follow Him because you love Him. Unfortunately, many people sit in our churches but are still looking for worldly pleasures and earthly possessions! It is because they have not yet accessed the Lord’s wisdom that asks them to gather their treasures in heaven! The truth is, when we choose God’s way, He grants us wisdom and the understanding of His Word that leads us to live right, have right relationships and make right decisions. My friend, today listen to the Lord who tells you this: “let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance” (Proverbs 1:5). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
