TODAY’S MEDITATION – Knowledge is empty without God (Colossians 1:914)

These days, it is so common to see preachers who have turned their sermons into presentations that sound like a thesis. Where is the revelation in what they are preaching? What is the spiritual value of a preaching without the Holy Spirit? Emptiness!

My brother, my sister, the times are bad and this passage in Colossians show us that this is not new. Here Apostle Paul was exposing a heresy (a teaching contrary to biblical doctrine) in the Colossian church that wassimilar to Gnosticism (from the Greek word for knowledge) which valued the accumulation of knowledge. Indeed, the Gnostics believed that important secret knowledge was hidden from most believers. How could that be when we know that God has made His Spirit available in everyone who believes in Christ? Therefore, Jesus provides us with all the knowledge we need (note that i did not say ‘we want’).

My friend, always pray that you might have complete knowledge of God’s will and have spiritual wisdom and understanding so you can produce every kind of good fruit. Don’t allow anyone to make you believe that you need to accumulate knowledge before you can experience God’s amazing grace, power or love. My friend, be wise ad use the knowledge you already have for if that’s all God has allowed you to have, know that it is enough for you to know Him… and the knowledge of God is not a secret that only a few can discover. It is open to everyone. Yes, the Lord wants all of us to learn more about Him and also to put our belief into practice by helping others to know Him. If you are wondering where to start as you are reading this meditation today. Well, the answer is simple: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Search Christ in the Word of God, for God is in His Word… therefore the knowledge of God is in His Word. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
