TODAY’S MEDITATION – Jesus wants your all (Matthew 19:21)

Jesus wants your all. Many people often think that they will start giving to the Lord once they have. My brother, my sister, if you expect to have to start giving to the Lord, then know that you will never have something to give, and even have the little that could satisfy you on this earth. You see, a true Christian understands that before giving His life for us on the cross, Jesus gave up everything; yes, He gave His divine nature to become a man to identify with us: “being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:5-8). Similarly, when reading the history of the widow of Zarephath, it can be confusing if you do not yet understand this principle of God. Here is what God says to His servant: “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have instructed a widow there to supply you with food” (1 Kings 17:9). But the widow had nothing to give and was even preparing to die of hunger: “As surely as the Lord your God lives,’ she replied, ‘I don’t have any bread – only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it – and die” (1 Kings 17:12). Does it mean that God did not know that this widow had nothing ? Of course He knew she had nothing. But the same God said, “Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops” (Proverbs 3:9). My friend, if you want to be blessed financially by the Lord, first give Him the little you have… if you want to be blessed with a divine work, serve Him first in all things… put God first. Stay blessed in the name of Jesus. [facebook] [retweet]
