TODAY’S MEDITATION – Jesus taught us how to evangelise (Matthew 4:17)

Jesus was passionate about evangelising and unlike what many churches are preaching today (deliverance, healing and becoming members instead of disciples, etc.), evangelism had great importance for our Lord, so much that, He left us with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) and never stopped preaching the same thing: He came to save us, so He is calling us to repent. My brother, my sister, today’s passage says: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” What does it mean for us Christians? This call of the Lord is to walk with Him by faith, with patience and courage, for the world cannot offer us anything. That is why Jesus is commanding each one of us to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you….” (Matthew 28:16-20). And the truth is, unless you abandon the world and what it offers, you cannot truly accomplish this commission. Many believers try and abandon; others find themselves with mixed feelings at some points of time. It is because they have not yet turned their back to the world… We need to become passionate about evangelising as our Lord and Saviour taught us, and that will only happen when we really know to love others as He has loved us, with compassion and mercy; when we understand what sin is and most importantly, when we develop love and not bitterness or judgment for the lost. And for this to happen, it is necessary to spend a lot of time meditating on the Word and praying. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
