In these verses, Jesus asked His disciples to feed a crowd of 5000 people (verse 37). And they replied “That would take more than half a year’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?” In other words, they were asking Jesus with what do you want us to feed them? My brother, my sister, today bear in mind that Jesus Christ is an instant God. Besides, He cannot ask you to do something that is beyond your reach! How do you react when facing an impossible task, an impossible situation? You see, the disciples asked Jesus with what because of their little faith, that’s is why the Lord’s question was “How many loaves do you have?” Yes, my friend, a situation that seems impossible with human resources is simply an opportunity for God to manifest His power. Jesus did not make bread to fall over their heads from the sky. He asked His disciples to gather the available food and to organise people in groups! Then He prayed (verse 41). What should we learn here? When you are faced with an impossible situation, just do like Jesus Himself: He first prepared the people in an orderly way (so put yourself in a position that is clear to God, because He does not work where there is disorder), then Jesus used the very little resource He had (He did His part by using the loaves of bread they already had), then He prayed (asked God to do His part by asking Him to multiply it)… and it happened! God is faithful: “They all ate and were satisfied!” Yes, our Father in Heaven cannot give us snakes when we are asking for bread, especially when we are asking Him with the right motives for His glory not for personal gratification. Today, take whatever seems impossible to you to God in the name of Jesus, but make sure you put order around you first and that you have done your own part even before starting your prayer. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
