TODAY’S MEDITATION – Jesus is your genuine source of assurance (Isaiah 32:17)

When sick or afflicted, many people tend to look for their pastor or other people to pray for them. And, true enough, it makes us feel good when others are praying for us, and the Bible encourages us to pray for one another anyway (James 5:16). Yet, we need to raise a point that is worth mentioning: my brother, my sister, never forget that Jesus is interceding for you at the right hand of God (Romans 8:34) where He sitting. Yes, in our human weakness, we sometimes wonder whether God actually hears us when we cry out to Him. But we cannot doubt that God hears Jesus. And know that, Jesus’ prayers for you started even before He left: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me…” (John 17:20-21). My friend, our Lord Jesus prayed for you before you started facing the trials of life. So, don’t be discouraged or dismayed because you have the assurance and confidence that His prayers apply to you as much as they applied to His first disciples… because you believe in Him. Yes, He prayed for you because He knew where you were going to be (and that’s where you may be today!). He prayed for you knowing the sickness, problems or unwanted circumstances you were going to go through. He prayed for you because He wants you to share in His glory : “‘Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world (…) I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them” (John 17:24-25). So, my friend, stop feeling afflicted and set your eyes and keep faith in Jesus, your source of assurance because He has not only paved the way for you to speak directly to the Father (1 John 5:14-15) but also there is certainly no doubt that God, the Father, heard and answered His prayer for you. Just wait on God’s time to see His promises of health, peace, love, joy, restoration, happiness, etc. to be fulfilled in your life… for there is no doubt they will come to pass. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
