TODAY’S MEDITATION – Jesus chose to obey… what about you? (Hebrews 5:7-9)

Many people pray but many have the feeling that God does not hear their prayers. My brother, my sister, if you are in this case, listen to what the Word is telling you today: “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission” (verse 7). It is so common to see people crying out loud to God when praying… Let me tell you that even even you whisper your prayer, God can hear and answer you: “Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard” (1 Samuel 1:13). And to those who thought she was drunk to be talking alone she answered: “Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief” (1 Samuel 1:16) and finally, “in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the Lord for him” (1 Samuel 1:20).

My friend, the Word of God is telling us that we do not receive because of the way we pray. And here we learn that Jesus was praying with reverent submission. Are you really and truly submitted to God, willing to do what He wants. Let me tell you that GOD ANSWERS OBEDIENT CHILDREN! Jesus chose to obey by continuously making the will of God the Father His own. Jesus chose to obey, even though obedience led to suffering and death. Have you ever seen Him asking the Father ‘why, why, why?’ like we do, except for the moment He was on the Cross… and even then, the next thing He did was to accept the will of God… (Matthew 27:46). Do you really thing that what you are going through is as painful as what the One who has never sinned was going through, for you to ask God why this is happening to me?

My friend, because Jesus obeyed perfectly, even under great trial, He knows what you are going through and He can help us obey, no matter how difficult obedience seems to be. Let’s seek His assistance and comfort to remain faithful and obedient, for God responds to His obedient children. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
