TODAY’S MEDITATION – It’s time to fight back! (Revelation 20:9-10)

My brother, my sister, do you know that Satan’s power is not eternal? He will soon meet doom! The Bible tells us that Satan began his work of evil from the beginning (Genesis 3:1-6) and he is still continues today, but he will be destroyed when he is thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. My friend, the fate of the devil is already sealed. Today’s passage says this: “They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Why then do you tremble when the devil shouts things of the past to you to demoralise or discourage you? My friend, whenever Satan tries to undermine your faith in the Lord or to trick you, remind him of his fate. Today know that he is so desperate because he knows his fate, just like a child who did something wrong and knows that no matter what, his parents will punish them, that he is angry and just want us, the children of God, to be punished like him. Do not yield to Satan and remind him that in Christ you have eternal life that he does not have and also that God who created you has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11) that he does not have since all that the future has in store for him and his little demons is only eternal damnation.

Thus, my friend, let’s learn to abide in Christ: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings” (1 Peter 5:8-9). Yes, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7) and Jesus showed us how to do so: through the Word of God. “It is written” (Matthew 4:4-10). My friend, the Word of God is the ‘sword of the Spirit.’ (Ephesians 6:17.) If Christ met and defeated the enemy with this, we can also do it when we submit to God first. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
