TODAY’S MEDITATION – Is the Church still preaching the Gospel? (Obadiah 1:21)

This is what Jesus said: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Mark 2:17). My brother, my sister, the church was established by Christ Himself to pursue his mission for the salvation of the sinners. Today we must ask ourselves if the Church still preaches the Gospel. Why? Because many people think they deserve to be blessed by God, while the Bible shows us that all God’s blessings come after our obedience to the Lord. Now some sinners who do not even hide what they do sit in the front ranks of our churches where they exhibit worldly attitudes… worse, sometimes they are even church leaders and the church would proudly present their achievements to God’s people without ever challenging them for their sins. How can a church accept the tithe or offering of a person who prostitutes without ever addressing this issue and try to help that person out of prostitution first. Is the Church here to receive from God’s people or to give to the people of God? My friend, don’t get me wrong here: I’m talking about both spiritual and physical prostitution.

In today’s passage, Obadiah was bringing God’s message of judgment on Edom because God was displeased with the people’s inward and outward rebellion. Yes, people were arrogant, jealous, dishonest, they took advantage of each other, etc …. And all this made Edom to become hostile to God. Sad to say, but the body of Christ is filled with this kind of people… and the church never addresses them as long as they bring their tithes and offerings… if it is not to lose a soul. My friend, some churches avoid preaching on any verse that speaks of obedience, commitment or faithfulness to God…but every day God is good, God is love, God is faithful. NO. God is sad and angry when His so-called children are not listening to Him! He is the same, yesterday and tomorrow. God is good and patient, but a day will come when He will turn His face away because of our unrepented sins; God is love and merciful, but He can do absolutely nothing for us when the devil has a legal right to flog us because of our sins… Never forget that God is just in all situations: He is just when we do good, He is also just when we do bad things!

My brother, my sister, we really need to interceded day and night that the Church of Christ will return to the initial plan of God: eternal salvation is what Jesus brought before temporary deliverance, wealth or well-being. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
