TODAY’S MEDITATION – Is Jesus really your shepherd? (Zechariah 10:2)

Many times in the Bible we read that God hates idolatry. It is worth understanding why. My brother, my sister, the sad view of Christianity today is that many people claim themselves to be followers of Christ while creating idols of all kinds around them: idols of money, wealth, power, fame, fanaticism, job, miracles, etc… The Lord hates idolatry and says: “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of ANYTHING in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below” (Exodus 20:3-4). The problem today is that many believers within our churches are still attached to idols and expect them to give them security and happiness. In some countries, many people go to church on Sundays but to fortune-tellers on week days; in others some people go to church while still worshiping stone images; in others, some go to church while pursuing their own fame and cherishing their public image, in others some go to church only for deliverance and miracles, not for Jesus, some go to church for the eloquent and elegant pastor, not for the Word of God and they will better remember the pastor’s outfit than the preaching… all that is idolatry and those believers, for the Lord, still “wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd.” My friend, is Jesus really your shepherd? This is what He says: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Now, for a job, do you abandon Him? For tiredness, do you abandon Him? For your children, do you abandon Him? For money, do you abandon Him? For difficulties in your life, do you abandon Him? Today, let’s all check that ANYTHING has not taken the place of God in our hearts and in your life, before the Lord, for you cannot be a true follower of Jesus and still be wandering like a lost sheep. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
