TODAY’S MEDITATION – Is gossiping part of your Christian walk? (Matthew 12:36)

Yesterday I listened to a programme on TV about a woman, servant of God who was warning the body of Christ that she has filed a complaint and whoever uses her name on social media to slander her or her family will receive an immediate lawsuit. My brothers, my sister, being a single woman of God having gone through all kinds of lies and accusations you can imagine, I know what gossiping can do, especially when it comes from believers. Thank God, God always vindicates those who serve Him in truth and in Spirit and sends confusion in the camp of the enemy… but while waiting for God’s action, do we, the children of God, realise how destructive gossiping can be? If the people in the world continue to gossip, slander and say nonsense about us, it is understandable, because they have no light dwelling in them. But when gossiping stems from our midst, among the children of God… or should I say the “children of the god of this world who pretend to be Christians just because they have confessed that Jesus Christ is their Lord… we need to stop and reflect.

My friend, the Bible says: “everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken” (Matthew 12:36). Do we all read the Word of God? Does it not tell us that “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear”? (Ephesians 4:29). Truly, my friend, if you did not know this, let me recall you today that: “There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers” (Proverbs 6:16-19). If you find yourself in one of these things that are abominable to God, repent today and become a true Christian who has Jesus Christ, not a fake one who cannot keep himself or herself out of trouble because of his or her mouth: “Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble” (Proverbs 21:23). Yes, know that, any gossiping you spread or set your ear to hear is putting you in trouble before the Almighty who sees everything and knows everything. Lying to yourself or to men will change nothing as God’s record is real.

Let the Body of Christ hear the truth of the Word and practice it for the Kingdom of God to come on earth… we are not here to work for the devil but to continue what Jesus started from the cross! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
