TODAY’S MEDITATION – In the midst affliction, renew your trust in Christ (2 Corinthians 4:7-12)

My brother, my sister, today you may be broken down, beat-up, pushed aside, cast out, but remember this: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you” (2 Corinthians 4:7-12). Yes, problems, hardships, bad news can rush to you or appear like you are about to drown, pressing you hard or squeezing you like an orange on every side… you will still not be crushed or feel desperate when your really trust in Christ!

You see, we usually trust the person who drives the taxi, train or any means of transport we take to go somewhere. But sometimes we lack to trust the only person who can lead us through all the difficulties we might be facing. Trust is the foundation of our faith, our confidence and our hope in Christ. Trusting in Jesus is learning to lean and depend on Jesus. Yes, trust in Him and He will provide. In the midst of affliction, Job said that said: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15). What about you? What do you say when you feel distressed? Does the same mouth that praises the Lord begin to complain to Him or express your lack of confidence in what He is doing in your life? If you trust in Jesus, yes, He willc CERTAINLY provide (I did not say MAYBE He will be provide) through a way out, a solution, help… in short, through anything that can give you peace.

My friend, you know you really have faith in Christ when you are standing at the break of darkness and you don’t know if the next step is going to rush you into a cliff or not. Your faith will be expressed when, despite the unknown, you move forward confidently, with the assurance that the Lord will either give you something solid to stand on or give you the ability to fly at that right moment. Yes, faith is to be able to believe that the Lord will act where yourself or anyone else can do nothing for you. So, my friend, renew your trust in the Lord now and through His Spirit who dwells in you, let Him lead your steps to His green pasture, His resting place. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
