TODAY’S MEDITATION – In Christ, we have security (Jeremiah 33:6)

Today’s verse says : “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” There is one point that needs to be stressed today: just like you cannot stop being the child of your earthly parents once you are born, so you cannot stop being a child of God once you are born again. My brother, my sister, we can no more be unborn spiritually than we can go back and be unborn physically. That is the reason why it is important for us to learn to live like children of the Most High, the Creator of Heaven and earth, the Alpha and the Omega, the great Provider, etc… My friend, when you trust in Christ for your salvation, by His grace, at that very moment, you became a member of God’s family forever. So, why worry about questions like “Can I lose my salvation?”. The only question a child of God should ask all the time is : “do I live like a child of God, glorifying Him in my deeds, in my thoughts, in my talk, in my way of living, in my love for the others?” My friend, once in Christ, you know that there is “no condemnation” for you (Romans 8:1) and “no separation” (Romans 8:39)…

However, knowing that you are a child of God should give you an assurance and security that leads you to stability and productivity (you need to produce the fruit of the Spirit) through gratitude and obedience, not defiance or rebellion. So many believers try to live their own ways, ignoring the Word of God, but yet want to be blessed, restored and shown mercy by the same God. Because He is loving, He will always do what is good for you. But let’s always remember that the security we gain in Christ is not only saving us, liberating and life-changing but it is also a fortress of strength against the condemnation of Satan and our own fleshly doubts, and it should give us the zeal and vitality to serve Christ in obedience to His teachings every day … just as He served the Father on our behalf! In other words the security we gain as children of God is not for us to prosper as the world prospers, because God is Spirit and He is more interested in our spiritual reality than in things that are temporary. That’s why the Bible says: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
