TODAY’S MEDITATION – How do you appreciate God’s goodness day after day? (2 Chronicles 32:24-27)

Let’s read this passage of the Bible first: “In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign. But Hezekiah’s heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the Lord’s wrath was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem. Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the Lord’s wrath did not come on them during the days of Hezekiah.”

My brother, my sister, how many times a day do we do exactly what Hezekiah did? We call on the Lord when we are in need. He answers us. Then once we have got we we needed, we swell with pride when we do not forget about, just because in our prayer we have said “Thank you Lord”. My friend, God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and we should never forget that He knows the future. And the future is filled with traps set by the evil one while the Lord is willing to always help us out of those traps. But does our ungratefulness enable Him to do so? Just look at Hezekiah: He was blessed by healing and his response was not appropriate towards the kindness God has shown Him. Do you really think that God would have stood up for Hezekiah while He was angry with Him? My friend, God is good does not mean we should that His goodness for granted! The same, after Jesus healed ten lepers, “One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan” (Luke 17:11-19).

Yes, how do you react towards the Lord’s kindness. Every day His mercy is renewed in your life. Do you thank Him enough or do you only spend time complaining (praising the works of the devil in your life?). A merry heart will be even more grateful and filled with the joy and goodness of the Lord. Let’s stop taking God’s goodness for granted and learn to thank Him as we appreciate His goodness in our lives every day: the mere fact that you are still on this earth, that you are healthy, that you have a roof over your head, food to feed yourself, etc. should give you enough reasons to praise Him rather than complaining about what you do not have… IIf you are ungrateful, all you do is stirring up the wrath of God because when He looks at you, He sees what He has already given you, not the car you do not have, the marriage that you do not have, the health that you do not have… He wants you to be grateful for His grace today and to let tomorrow take care of tomorrow ! And may be that is the reason why nothing seems to move forward in your life. My friend, allow the clouds that have cluttered your life to dissipate today by thanking and praising God for all that you are and that you have! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
