TODAY’S MEDITATION – Great and true peace is found in the Lord alone (Psalm 119:165).

One thing everyone will agree on about today’s society is that peace is lacking more and more: the news, our streets, families, schools, etc. are filled will violence, which can take different forms and come through different means. And above all, technology has made violence enter our homes quicker than we think: I remember going to a village in Africa last year where I talked to school children about the dangers of the Internet, as the optic fibre was going to be installed in the village… Some parents did not realise that through the Internet they were opening doors to pornography, social networking and different things that could endanger their children. Some children even told me about their correspondents in different parts of the world and how they trusted them to be sincere, etc… What is certain is that modern day longs for peace of mind. My brother, my sister, the Word of God teaches that a fundamental truth: Jesus has given you peace! “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27). We are also told that ” For God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33). Now my friend, you cannot claim to know and be with the Lord of peace and not have that peace. If you do not have peace, then you have to check yourself my friend, because we know that the Lord has established peace for us (Isaiah 26:12) but, the most important and what needs to be stressed today is that, my friend, you cannot have the peace that comes from the Lord if you do not follow His laws! Oh, yes, for the verses we are reading today clearly gives instructions on how to attain peace: IF WE LOVE GOD AND OBEY HIS LAWS! My brother, my sister, trust in the Lord who alone stood on the cross for you and is above all the pressures of daily life and has given you full assurance of His peace before leaving. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
