TODAY’S MEDITATION – God notices all our deeds (Matthew 10:42)

Today’s passage says this:”And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”

My brother, my sister, how much we love God can be measured by how well we treat others. Jesus’ example of giving a cup of water to a thirsty child is a good model of unselfish service. Yes, unselfish service! Today, many believers give to God but in exchange of something they expect from Him. How much more giving to people around them?

Yet today’s verse teaches us that God notices every good deed we do or don’t do as if He were the one receiving it. Why did Jesus talk about the water being given to a child? Because a child usually can’t or won’t return the favour! So, as you understand this and check yourself, be honest with yourself: do you give or serve others expecting something back from them? Can you also think of something unselfish you can do for someone else today. Although no one else may see you, know that God notices and your reward will surely come from Him on due time.

My friends, let’s learn to do things for the glory of our Lord. He taught us how to live with one another, because that is what is happening in heaven. Unless we change on earth how will we be able to live in heaven? In heaven, there is no place for selfishness, hatred or bitterness, no place for gossips, lack of respect, excuses or justifications that make us look good or right, no place for procrastination… all these are traits of a selfish attitude and lack of consideration for others. But our character needs to change with all its traits, because the only thing we go to heaven with is indeed our character. That is the reason why, it does not matter how long you have been a believer! At the entry door of heaven, many would be surprised because they have never changed to adapt to the character of heaven: living in peace and loving the others. God notices all our deeds, visible and hidden ones and He is at the door of heaven. Don’t miss your entry because of a selfish attitude (main trait of Satan’s character that lead Him to try to exalt himself above God)… ask the Holy Spirit to help you change now! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
