TODAY’S MEDITATION – Don’t give the devil a foothold in your life (Ephesians 4:27)

Many times, the Bible warns us to remain watchful. My brother, my sister, if it was not possible for the devil to gain strongholds in the lives of believers, why would the Lord give us such warnings?

My friend, let’s not be deceived in this: our walk with Jesus is a reflection of our walk with the others. If we cannot be committed to be accountable and loyal to each other as brothers and sisters in Christ, we cannot be committed, loyal and accountable to Jesus either, because where there is no loyalty or sense of commitment, there are often lies. Not necessarily big lies or hypocrisy, just those little cute lies the world make us think are harmless and which allow us to keep a good conscience because we believe that since we did not hurt the feelings of anyone or we avoided to be faced with unpleasant situations, it is not a big deal. But a lie is a lie… and it can open doors to demonic forces into our lives. Therefore, when some things are not right in your life, the first thing you need to do is to ask the Spirit of the Lord to reveal if some strongholds are in your life. Also, repent from any sinful behaviour that has helped to strengthen them. Bind and renounce all spirits that have oppressed you in the name of Jesus name.

You see, every adverse situation in our lives has its networks of spirits working diligently to both oppress us and others through us. We cannot allow the enemy to have a home or opportunity with us. If manages to do so, it is no one’s fault but our own. This is worth mentioning, because many people tend to look for the source of their problems elsewhere. the Bible says: “Don’t point your finger at someone else and try to pass the blame” (Hosea 4:4). Yes, we need to be strong in the Lord and trust in the power of His might to resist, even when people are trying to take advantage of us, even when confrontational situations present themselves and we are challenged to deal with them fearlessly and honestly. That’s the time we should resist and avoid slipping back into old sins to avoid the enemy to start making his way back as well. And, if we have been weak, the confession-repentance-renouncing process has to take place all over again, to avoid the enemy to try and beat us down with guilt. My friend, give no place to the devil in your life. Repent and start all over if you fall: “for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again” (Proverbs 24:16). Jesus will help you as you try and persevere to remain faithful to Him and His teachings. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
