TODAY’S MEDITATION – Do you really believe that the Lord can help you? (Matthew 9:27-30)

As a great majority of believers, you surely answered “yes” in your heart to this question. Now, let me ask you the next question: “so why do you doubt when the Lord does not answer you immediately then?” My brother, my sister, as we read today’s passage, we see that Jesus did not respond immediately to the blind men’s pleas. The Bible says: “As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, ‘Have mercy on us, Son of David!’ When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?'” The truth is that not everybody who says they want help really believes the Lord can help them. You see, these men were not discouraged. They knew what they wanted and followed Jesus wherever He was going, until He ended up talking to them and dealing with their cases. Yes, they were very persistent because they had no doubt Jesus could heal them. What does this teach us? Simply that, sometimes, the Lord waits before blessing us, just to see if we truly mean what we say, if we have faith in His almighty power… and sometimes He also waits only to increase our faith! Therefore, my friend, when you think that God is slow to answer your prayers, consider that He is perhaps trying to test you as He did with the blind men, and that’s why Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” as He is asking you today: “Do you believe I can heal you? restore you? save you?” Your perseverance, and faith in action, will determine whether you truly believe Jesus is the answer to all your needs… so don’t let anything or anyone stop you from reaching out to Him. Believing the Lord can help you should not make you passive. In the contrary, it should make you more active in prayer, fasting and reading the Word, as you are trying to reach out to the Lord to answer you. The Bible says: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). The two blind men where seeking Jesus with all their hearts, so much that they even went into the house Jesus was staying… and found Him! So, if you have unanswered prayers, may be you have not yet got to the place where you can indeed find the Lord, because you can’t find Him and nothing changes in your life. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
